Balanced Body and Happier Life

Balanced Body and Happier Life

For over twenty years I have been working with clients to restore function and alignment to their body. I evaluate their posture and watch them walk to determine where their misalignments are. If you are one of my clients then you have a smart motion routine that you do Daily.

You know what else you should be doing Daily? Walking every day has multiple benefits for your health and longevity.
Regular walking has been found to:
  •  trigger an anti aging process that helps target and repair old DNA
  • maintain healthy weight
  • prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes
  • strengthen bones and muscles
  • improves mood
  • improve balance and coordination
Part of what makes walking so beneficial is that when you are walking you can't be sitting. Sitting is the new smoking. Sitting for more than 8 hours a day is associated with a 90% increase in type 2 diabetes, along with risks of heart disease, cancer and obesity.

How much walking do you need to do daily to gain these benefits? The answer is in as little as 20-30 minutes daily. So get up and get outside and get your body moving. When you are outside look up and notice what color the sky is, take deep cleansing breaths and look for different surfaces to walk on- an example would be if you are on cement look for grass or dirt- walk over rocks or fallen tree stumps. Mix it up to work on your your balance and strength. Notice how you feel after your walk.

Promoting a Movement Based Life

Promoting a Movement Based Life You have heard it before; sitting is not good for you! We all know sitting is not good for us but most of us spend our days sitting for most of our day. As clients of Functionetiks you all have a designated time each day that you work on your function. Your individualized menu. This is amazing and makes everything you do for the rest of the day a bit more functional. How functional can you be if you spend the majority of the day sitting? It wasn't long ago in our history of humans that our survival was determined by our ability to move. As humans we are designed to move; we can walk, run, jump, climb, carry heavy objects etc... In the past we did not have to think about it movement was built into our day. Today our modern life dictates that we sit. So I challenge you to change that, think of ways to increase movement throughout the day.  Stand up when you are working on your computer (stand on both feet with weight equal) Sit down on t...
